Enigma的第三張專輯發行于1996年11月25日，唱片標題為《Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi！》，這是德文，翻譯為英文則“The King is Dead, Long Live the King!”，中文意為“國王死了，國王萬歲”，港臺地區翻譯為“改朝換代”，更多人則將之稱為“王者風范”。這張唱片與Enigma的前兩張專輯相比，在風格上稍有不同。整體音樂氣氛的變化，加之鼓的音色更加平和，而且還出現了更多全新的少數民族音樂元素——從祖魯人到拉托維亞人，包括這些少數民族特有的樂器音色。正因為這些特色，所以《Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi！》被評論界譽為Enigma眾多唱片中最一元化的一張專輯。在這張專輯中制作人Michael Cretu向廣大聽眾傳達了許多自然的、哲學的觀念，這個觀念的主題就是“why（為什么）”。專輯中的《Beyound the Invisible》是Enigma一首比較經典的單曲，通過Cretu的聲音鋪墊著一種不可抵擋的圣歌迭句和神秘的旋律。第七軌《The Child in Us》運用了中國云南少數民族的樂器——蘆笙，其中的女聲演唱則充滿了南亞音樂元素?！禩.N.T. for the Brain》風格強勁而律動，MTV的拍攝手法更是另類而詭異，令人難以忘懷。
