LONDON based wunderkind Rhodes will drop his debut album Wishes Septembe 4th.
Released through Rhodes Music/Ministry of Sound, don’t expect the usual Saturday night prime time house beats from the famous label.
Wishes will be a Sunday morning comedown kind of affair, full of stripped backed guitar, hauntingly beautiful vocals and lovingly crafted soundscapes.
Rhodes vocal stylings have been compared to luminaries such as Jeff Buckley and Adele, and the construction of his songs are akin to Radiohead at their most self-reflective.
The Hitchin born singer songwriter listened to the likes of blues star Robert Johnston, Nirvana and Blur in his youth and an early stint in his career as a bass player for a London band helped hone his craft.
Rhodes has enjoyed a swift upward trajectory to his fledgling career, selling out headline shows at London’s Village Underground and touring with the likes of Ben Howard, London Grammar and George Ezra.
A recent cover of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space on a Huw Stephen’s Radio One session was met with critical acclaim.
Wishes will be preceded by new single Open Your Eyes on June 14.
Both album and single are produced by Rhodes and long-term collaborator James Kenosha (Dry The River, Pulled Apart By Horses) with Nineteen85 (Drake) on additional production.
