Scottish indie pop pioneers the Vaselines have announced a new album, V for Vaselines, out September 29 on Rosary Music.
V for Vaselines is the followup to 2010's Sex With an X, which followed their 1989 debut Dum Dum. The band self-produced the album at Mogwai's studio, Castle of Doom. V features contributions from a number of fellow Glasgow-based indie artists, including Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian), Frank Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), Michael McGaughrin (1990s), Graeme Smillie (Olympic Swimmers), Paul Foley (Mandrake Shepherd), and Scott Paterson (Sons & Daughters).
V for Vaselines was inspired by the Ramones and guitarist/vocalist Eugene Kelly's desire to "write some really short punk rock songs, just get into people’s ear really straight away, and then get out of there really quickly."
